Candidate Slate for 2020-2022 Board

Chris Broussard  Related experience: Significant experience with many types of projects, requiring constant team communication.

Why I would like to serve: To ensure that HOA dues are kept to a minimum, with funds available to maintain the common areas. To provide account credits for residents toward future HOA dues, after our amenities were closed for many months. To provide actual physical labor for small jobs, to save community funds.

Goals for the Association: Improved communication between residents and board members. Increased resident input for non-routine decisions. 
Lewis Gamboa Related experience: Over 38 years of infrastructure experience, developing, designing, managing, & building projects will help me in managing/maintaining our assets, while keeping projects on budget, & effectively communicating with the neighborhood.  My 30 years of community service with the Knights of Columbus has taught me the value of working with others, maintaining respectful relationships, and the value of community events. Also served on the Parks & Rec Board, & Advisory Committees for the City of Lubbock.

Why I would like to serve: I am running for a position on the board to foster RESPECT in the community & return to neighbors being neighborly.  To enhance COMMUNICATION by being respectful, transparent, & honest, and through the effective use of both electronic, and non-electronic forms of communication.  To UNITE the neighborhood via events, groups, clubs, and support of the swim team.

Goals for the Association: RESPECT, COMMUNICATION, UNITY.  Effectively maintain our amenities, while increasing usage & access.  The annual assessment should not be raised every year, and only when necessary.  Give residents a voice & say in how their money is spent & access to amenities.  Host regular community events.
John Hamman Related experience: Most of my professional work experience has been facilities management and maintenance.  I was a facility manager taking care of a 54-acre manufacturing facility.  This included all maintenance and preparing for weather events such as hurricanes and drought.  This experience will help me take car if this community group.  I want to make sure this is a clean and safe place to live and I want to see it that money is spent wisely doing it.
 
Why I would like to serve: I want to foster a community where the rules, well publicized are followed and everyone has a vote.  Again, I want to make sure we can do this and spend community funds wisely.  If there are excess funds I want to give them back by lowering the month assessment.  I also want this to run like a business with openness and Honesty.
 
Goals for the Association:  Honesty, openness, efficiency no drama in the administration and attempting to meet the associations needs.
Philip J. Kochman Related experience: I have served on the Board of Directors of Village Place for four (4) years. I serve as
an officer of the Briar Forest Super Neighborhood. I have previously served and continue to serve on various
non-profit Boards. I am a committeeman at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. And, professionally, I
regularly advise Boards of various companies.

Why I would like to serve: I would like to continue to represent and serve the interests of the residents,
using my talents to improve the community and protect, maintain and develop the assets of Village Place
through proper planning, fiscal responsibility and working within appropriate legal guidelines. I would
continue to coordinate and manage the various legal issues encountered by the association. I would support
residents who are willing to volunteer to work on committees to increase community involvement and
promote community spirit and understanding.

Goals for the Association: The Board of Directors has a number of purposes, but one of its primary
functions is to handle the business of Village Place. As a member of the Board, I will continue to work with
my colleagues to maintain and improve the community infrastructure and common areas while operating
within the existing finances. I will conduct the business of the association in accordance with the bylaws and
applicable law. I will focus on increasing the community’s financial reserve. I will encourage, solicit and
evaluate input from all residents. I will support residents who wish to organize community events and to
serve on committees to help develop a greater sense of neighborhood.
Terry Leibowitz Related experience: I have lived in Village Place for over 30 years. My professional background is in communications, marketing and events. I worked in the hospitality industry for private membership clubs for over 14 years hosting events and serving the interest of our members. I worked for the Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau under Mayor Brown’s administration representing the City of Houston both nationally and abroad. And, currently, I work for the Greater Houston Partnership handling some of the top 25 businesses in Houston and their engagement with the Partnership, other Houston organizations and our surrounding regions. I also handle all the branding opportunities for the Partnership’s 1100+ member companies. I have experience in engaging and gathering people together to enhance networking and participation. I am also an inactive Real Estate agent. With that, I understand how HOA’s work and how important they are in the city and to neighborhoods. I know how to listen and work with people with respect. I currently serve as a volunteer for Interfaith Ministries and worked with ADL Houston for numerous years. I have been a HOA Board Member for the past two years.

Why I would like to serve: I want to continue the work I’ve begun and help make Village Place a prime investment for homeowners, a great place to raise a family, a safe community, meet and help fellow residents, and create events that are inviting and engaging for all our neighbors. I want to involve more of our community to create new and innovative events and networking opportunities, from Lawn Parties to Wine Tastings. I know how to put the community’s needs above my own. And most of all, I know how to listen with respect and I enjoy working with others.

Goals for the Association: To continue to improve neighborhood amenities. Ensure every neighbor is valued and heard with mutual respect. Be transparent to ensure residents understand how the HOA is making a positive contribution to our community by sharing updates about projects that the association is funding and ensure all residents see a tangible benefit. Foster a culture of openness and shared success in Village Place for all to enjoy.
Chris Leonard Related experience: Board President for the past 5 years, a 6 year resident of Village Place,Volunteer on two committees for the Houston Livestock and Rodeo, High performing leader of teams in excess 20 team members /direct reports in a sales and purchasing/sourcing capacity, Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Logistics , MBA, Project Management and Event Organizer  
         
Why I would like to serve: I would like to continue serving the community by continuing to improve our neighborhood and its assets. Improve property values and make Village Place a preferred place live on the west side of Houston. Make sound financial decisions while keeping assessments low. I would continue to communicate via social media, email and other means. In addition, I would like to form committees to aid the board in hosting more events to bring the community closer. Respect, mutual understanding and honesty are part of my key core values.

Goals for the Association: Continue to provide a financially stable association, while saving for future capital improvements and maintenance. Provide a safe place for our community members to spend time with their families and neighbors. Work to bring the community together by insuring residents have a voice and create togetherness through community events (movie nights, food trucks, holiday parties and other events)
Glen Penfield Related experience: I am an Exploration Geoscientist working for ####  in the role of Principal Client Advisor and I serve as a subject matter expert to Geophysicists, Geologists, Petrophyscists, Geosteerers, Engineers, and Data Managers. My role with #### places me in an ideal position to serve on the Board, with an emphasis on clear communication, effective outreach, and a drive for improvement.

Ashley Skrljac Related experience: Bachelor's degree in Communications; Current member of Grace School Board; Former chair of Grace Gala/Auction; Founder of JCF Cancer Research Fund; 10 year resident of VP. 

Why I would like to serve: To foster respect in the community and return to neighbors being neighborly; to enhance communication by being respectful, transparent and honest through the use of mail, message boards, websites and social media; to unite neighborhoods via events, groups, clubs and support of the swim team.

Goals for the Association: Respect, Communication, and Unity! Effectively maintain our amenities while increasing usage and access; Annual assesssment only raised as needed and less frequently; open, honest communication with residents; give residents a voice inhow their money is being spent and access to amenities; record and post meeting minutes; host regular community events.
